School Kit Preparation . . .
We used the money earned at our recent car wash to purchase supplies to assemble 60 school kits to be distributed to children in need by IOCC in partnership with Church World Service.
|
During the third week in July Fr. David and Matushka Catherine, joined His Eminence Archbishop Dmitri, clergy, clergy wives, lay delegates and observers from the Diocese of the South at Christ the Savior Cathedral in Miami, Florida to conduct business, share in the Holy Eucharist, and to renew bonds of fellowship. This assembly began the year long celebration of the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Diocese of the South.

Car Wash for Charity 2007
The Women's Group enlisted the help of our youth and sponsored a car wash to raise money to assemble IOCC "Gift of the Heart" School Kits for needy children.

Women's Retreat
The third weekend in May the Women's Group enjoyed a retreat at the Shalom House in Montpelier, VA. After a wonderful balance of structured study and discussion time along with ample rest and relaxation, we returned to St. Cyprian on Sunday morning to celebrate the Divine Liturgy with our church family.

Our Annual Annunciation Day Retreat and Fish Fry was held at the Romanchik's home this year. Mary Ann DeTrana came and shared with us about wellness. It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful time together!

In addition to the youth baking cookies and delivering them to our neighbors, the women of the parish try to purchase small gifts such as hats, gloves, slippers, etc. for our neighbors each year. This year several of our youth helped prepare the packages, and scarves were delivered after the Divine Liturgy for the Feast of the Nativity.

St. Nicholas Coin Boxes
The youth of our parish fashioned St. Nicholas Coin Boxes for each parish family to take home and fill with change during the Advent Fast. All monies will be counted and donated to a local charity during the Feast of the Nativity. Thanks kids!
